Silty clay samples taken from Shahu of Wuhan beneath ground level 95 m were mainly tested
and the stress controlled triaxial shear device was used to test the natural and remoulded samples along three different loading paths under different consolidated drainage conditions respectively. The corresponding research results show that: 1) in diltancy range with the volume decreasing(d≥0)
relative to the remoulded soil
the natural soil presents a bigger volume decrease induced by stress ratio; 2) but in diltancy range with the volume increasing(d<0)
the testing observations are more complicated: when the natural and remoulded soil samples are in the state with OCR≤2.0 during triaxial shear process
the diltancy values of the natural soil samples almost equal the corresponding values of the remoulded soil samples
whereas when the natural soil samples are in the state with OCR>2.0 and the remoulded soil samples with OCR≤2.0 during shearing
the diltancy values of the natural soil samples are obvious bigger than those of the remoulded soil samples; 3) different types of diltancy equations such as Cam-Clay
modified Cam-Clay
Nova Cam-Clay
and Rowe

are further examined and verified against the testing data.
