In order to achieve China's goal of “double carbon” and accelerate the process of energy transformation
large-scale grid connection of new energy power will force the basic power source with coal-fired power generation as the main supply to fully participate in deep peak regulation. The north China develops the most proportion of wind power and photovoltaic power. However
the operation mode of “determining electricity by heat” of heating units dramatically limits the units' peak shaving ability
and the problem of abandoning wind and light can not be fundamentally solved for a long time. Based on the great demand of deep peak shaving of heating units
the development of thermal electrolytic coupling technology of heat storage type and non-heat storage type is systematically studied in this paper. The advantages and disadvantages of thermal electrolytic coupling technology with and without thermal storage in engineering application are revealed. Moreover
the development trends of deep peak regulation and deep energy conservation technology for heating units are looked forward
and the coupling of various thermo-electrolytic coupling technologies and energy storage collaborative technologies at pipe network side and user side are introduced
to facilitate the smooth implementation of the “double-carbon” target national strategy.
