Thermogravimetric analysis method was employed to analyze the co-combustion characteristics of coal mixed with sludge
straw and mycelial residue. The results showed that
coal had only one obvious weight loss peak during the combustion process
which was formed by the simultaneous combustion of volatile matters and coke. While sludge
straw and mycelial residue all had three obvious weight loss peaks during the combustion. The first peak was caused by water evaporation
the second peak was caused by the precipitation and combustion of volatiles
and the third peak was the combustion of fixed carbon. The weight loss peaks corresponding to straw volatile matters and fixed carbon burning were close to each other
while the two weight loss peaks corresponding to sludge and chemical residue were far apart. Therefore
the interaction between the volatile matters and fixed carbon of straw was stronger during the combustion process
while that between the volatile matters and fixed carbon of sludge and slag was weaker. When coal was mixed with biomass
the blending of straw improved the ignition performance and the comprehensive combustion characteristics of coal. Because the sludge had poor combustion characteristics
when its mixing ratio reached higher than 20%
it was not conducive to the ignition and combustion of the mixture. The blending of mycelial residue reduced the combustion and ignition performance of the mixture.
