This paper studies whether the wind turbine still has remaining service life when it reaches the design life. Based on customized load analysis and reliable life review
a method of residual service life evaluation for wind turbine is proposed. The equivalent fatigue load and allowable number of cycles of the wind turbine are calculated respectively under the certification conditions and the on-site conditions
and the remaining service life of the wind turbine structural components are evaluated by lifetime extension factors and uncertainty calculation. This method is applied to evaluate the service life of a 750 kW wind turbine in an old wind farm. The analysis results show that
after the 750 kW wind turbine reaches the design life
all components have a remaining service life
and the wind turbine's service life can be prolonged by at least 5.5 years.
