Electricity is the secondary energy source transferred from different primary energy sources
and is a kind of energy carrier. Different energy prices can be transferred to an equivalent price for comparison. From the aspect of energy price
this article investigates the relationship between electricity price and consumption of different power sources
with reference to price of coal-fired electricity. Corresponding to the coal consumption for power generation in coal fired power generation units
the index of non-coal power equivalent coal consumption rate with the unit be gram per kilowatt-hour is defined as follows
which equals to the product of coal consumption of electricity generation and electricity price differences between non-coal power and coal power. This index can reflect the power structure and the clean energy generation and consumption level in specific country
region or power company in sight of electricity price. This index also provides a reference for fully understanding the power generation and consumption
and improving the energy price mechanism and its evaluating system.
