Against the problem of invisibility of upper and lower surface of rotary air preheater in power plant boilers
a video monitoring and fault analysis system is proposed
which can monitor the surface situation of rotary air preheater directly. In this system
the real-time images of the rotor are collected by video monitoring and processed with the revised Retinex algorithm. Subsequently
the degree of ash accumulation and hot spot distribution on surface of the rotor are achieved. The former is used to analyze the level of ash blockage while the latter is to prevent second combustion on rotor surface after the fusion with temperature field. The field experiment results on a 600 MW unit show that
this system is effective and feasible. It realizes the estimation and visualization of the ash accumulation degree
hot spot distribution and blockage degree of the air preheater rotor in thermal environment
facilitates the maintenance of the operators
and greatly improves the reliability of the air preheater operation.
