To study the energy consumption characteristics of coal-fired units during load cycling transient processes
the energy-saving space during transient operation of the power units was explored. By applying the GSE software
a dynamic simulation model of a supercritical 660 MW coal-fired unit was established
coupling the coldend dynamic simulation model of the power plant
and the simulation modeling of the entire thermal system was finished finally. On the basis of this dynamic model
the energy consumption characteristics of the unit during load cycling between 75% THA and 100% THA transient processes were studied. The results show that
there is an optimal switching pump load rate which makes the energy consumption of the unit minimum during the load cycling transient processes. Within the scope of the study
the maximum difference in standard coal consumption rate is 0.14 g/(k W·h) for switching the pump in different load rates.
