A new partially recuperative gas turbine combined cycle(GTCCpr) system is proposed to improve its performance under off-design conditions. The performance under off-design conditions is also analyzed combining with two corresponding operation strategies of load regulation by using regenerative heat. The difference from conventional recuperative gas turbines is that only part of the turbine exhaust gas in the new system is used to preheat the outlet air of the compressor. In the 93.6%~100% load
the unit load is adjusted by changing the fraction of the exhaust gas involved in the regenerative heat. The results indicate that the use of the IGVT3-T4 scheme is more conducive to improve the overall performance of the new cycle. The maximum efficiency difference between the IGVT3-T4 scheme and the benchmark unit of the IGVT3-T4-F scheme with similar operation strategy is 1.4%. During the process of changing the fraction of the exhaust gas involved in the regenerative heat
the unit load is adjusted by changing its specific power
and the efficiency under off-design conditions is close to the design value. The GTCCpr system using the new operation strategy is more efficient than the conventional GTCCpr system
and the power output of combined cycle is only reduced by 10.7 MW under design conditions. In general
the GTCCprsystem proposed in this paper is a good transformation and operation scheme.
