A hybrid system model was proposed to recover the waste heat released by solid oxide fuel cell(SOFC) to drive the absorption refrigerator for both electricity and cooling production. Based on the theories of electrochemistry
non-equilibrium thermodynamics and finite time thermodynamics
the model fully considers various irreversible losses within the hybrid system and obtains the output power and efficiency of the hybrid system. It reveals the general performance characteristics and optimum operating range of the hybrid system. Finally
the influences of design parameters and working conditions on the performance characteristics of the hybrid system are discussed. The results show that
the equivalent power density and efficiency of the hybrid system are improved by 4.06% and 4.08% compared with that of the stand-alone SOFC. Lowering the internal irreversibility factor
the thermodynamic loss and the integrated parameter C and increasing the SOFC operating pressure may improve the performance of the hybrid system.
