In view of intensive wear of some sections of coal—fired utility boilers a new wear—resistant refractory has been developed. Practice shows that the material made by directions No. 57 has the best properties in terms of engineering construction and

wear and heat resistance. This material uses silicon carbide and spinel as the main wear resisting components

and a complex of water glass as the main binder. This material has not only the wear resistance higher than alumina

but also the properties without shrinkage during drying

high volume stability during heating and high strength.
