With the development of human society and the progress of science and technology
the demand for energy is increasing day by day. How to make rational use of energy will be a challenge faced by all countries. On the 27th January
2022
the IPCC released the Sixth Assessment Report(AR6) Working Group Ⅱ(WGⅡ) report. In contrast to previous IPCC AR5 reports
the AR6 report focuses primarily on the transformation of five systems: society
energy
land and ecosystems
cities and infrastructure
and industry. In order to achieve the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals
the report also highlights the importance of the energy transition
especially the low-carbon energy transition. The AR6 report clearly highlights the urgency of climate action and the challenges climate change poses to ecosystems and human systems
and the need for a range of adaptation measures to strengthen the resilience of all sectors to climate change. In order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve carbon peak and carbon neutrality as soon as possible
renewable energy technologies should be vigorously developed. Renewable energy technology is not only the conventional renewable energy such as solar energy and wind energy
but also the new energy technology such as Marine renewable energy and biomass energy. For different low-carbon sources of energy
such as solar and wind
heavy use of such sources can mitigate climate change
but it is highly vulnerable to climate change. In the case of biomass energy
large-scale expansion needs to be considered carefully. As for Marine renewable energy
it has not been developed and utilized on a large scale due to technical and financial constraints. For hydropower and thermal power generation
climate change will have a negative impact on thermal power generation
while the impact of hydropower needs to be looked at in different regions.
