Based on the coupling-modelling of multi-body dynamics and mixed lubrication
the tribo-dynamic performance of the crosshead slipper and crosshead bearing of a low-speed marine diesel engine was studied. The MEBDF algorithm was used to solve the highly nonlinear and rigid tribo-dynamic equations
obtaining the tribo-dynamic performance of each friction pair in one working cycle. The effects of the size of the oil supply hole of the crosshead slipper and the width of the crosshead bearing on the tribo-dynamics of the crosshead slipper and crosshead bearing of low-speed marine diesel engines were analyzed. The results show that the crosshead slipper bears the thrust force of the engine and the friction loss is substantial. The friction power loss of the crosshead bearing near the top dead center or bottom dead center is larger. The radius of the oil supply hole affects the tribo dynamic performance of the crosshead slipper. Properly reducing the width of the bearing can reduce the friction power loss of the crosshead bearing.
