Sichuan Province occupies a strategically important position in China with respect to water conservation
biodiversity protection
and climate regulation. This highlights the necessity of closely monitoring changes in water resources and their associated risks. Recent observations indicate that river and lake shorelines in Sichuan have remained generally stable; however
water resource changes are characterized by uncertainty and spatial heterogeneity
while the contradiction between water supply and demand is becoming increasingly prominent. These changes pose potential risks to economic development
social well-being
and the ecological environment. Based on a comprehensive analysis of water resource change trends in Sichuan Province and a systematic assessment of their risk implications
this paper evaluates the challenges of current water resource governance efforts. Targeted response strategies are then proposed to address changing water resource conditions and associated risks
with the aim of providing a reference for improving water resource governance and enhancing water security in Sichuan Province.
