Reservoirs are critical infrastructure in water conservancy
playing an indispensable role. However
sedimentation reduces effective storage capacity
impairs functional performance
and shortens service life
thereby introducing significant operational risks. Focusing on the risks and management of reservoir sedimentation
this study analyzes the current situation and associated risks in China
summarizes key technologies including hydraulic sediment flushing and mechanical dredging for storage restoration
and refines their respective application scopes
operational conditions
and integrated approaches for synergistic sediment reduction. The study further identifies the challenges facing future reservoir desilting and emphasizes the necessity of integrating sediment removal with sediment resource utilization
optimized reservoir operation
and comprehensive watershed-level sediment control. It proposes the establishment of an integrated technical system that combines hydraulic flushing and mechanical dredging
aiming to reduce desilting frequency and economic costs
and to fundamentally resolve sedimentation problems in reservoirs.
