At present

many cities in China have carried out the construction of slow traffic system to alleviate the problems of weakened urban vitality and traffic congestion brought by the expansion of motor vehicles. However

problems such as the destruction of ecological environment

the fragmentation of plant and animal communities

and the shortage of natural resources still exist within the cities. Focusing on the construction of slow traffic system in the waterfront of lower section of Qinghe River(Lishui Bridge-Shaziying Gate) in Beijing

this paper analyzes the problems existing in the lower section of Qinghe River and its banks

and explores the relevant construction measures that are helpful for creating a beautiful environment of the river and restoring the urban ecosystem

such as improving traffic

expanding the public service space of the river

restoring the plant and animal populations

and reducing the soil erosion.
