Irrigation areas are the main battlefield for food security production and play an important role in drought resis-tance
which is of great significance for ensuring national food security. Affected by global climate change and human activities
flood and drought disasters are becoming more frequent
severer and wider. On the basis of summarizing the practices and experiences of the severe drought in 2022
this article analyzes the characteristics of drought in the Poyang Lake Basin
the shortcomings of drought resistance in irrigation areas
and proposes targeted policy suggestions to improve the drought resistance ability of irrigation areas in the Poyang Lake Basin and give full play to engineering benefits. At the same time
it has certain reference significance and value for drought resistance in provinces and cities in the southern water sufficient areas.
