River and lake health assessment is an important technical means for scientifically analyzing river and lake problems and strengthening the implementation of the river and lake chief system. Under the overall framework of the national river and lake health assessment
this article selects representative indicators and sections to comprehensively evaluate the Qingshui River in Ningxia
a primary tributary of the Yellow River
from five aspects: hydrological integrity
morphological and structural integrity
chemical integrity
biological integrity
and social service function sustainability. The results indicate that the Qingshui River is sub-healthy as a whole
with the vegetation coverage of the riparian zone as the primary influencing factor
followed by the degree of artificial interference and biological factors in the riparian zone. The river's vertical connectivity
the compliance rate of water function zones
and the development and utilization rate of water resources are relatively good. Meanwhile
the Qingshui River has played a relatively good social service function as shown by the flood control and public satisfaction indicators.
