This article takes the Tengger Desert Wind and Solar Power Base in Minqin
Gansu Province as the experimental site.It focuses on the survey challenges posed by the desert’s undulating terrain
complex stratigraphic conditions
and dynamic fluctuations in groundwater levels. It conducts a comprehensive exploration experiment using transient surface waves and symmetrical quadrupole electrical sounding.By combining theoretical geophysical analysis with verification through actual drilling data
it establishes criteria for identifying the shear wave velocity and apparent resistivity of desert aeolian sand strata. It verifies that the survey accuracy of both geophysical methods meets the requirements of engineering survey specifications.Transient surface waves can precisely delineate strata and evaluate the compactness of sand layers
while symmetrical quadrupole electrical sounding can identify groundwater level interfaces and abrupt lithological changes. The two techniques complement each other. This article comprehensively adopts two survey methods:“global survey using surface waves + detailed survey using symmetrical quadrupole electrical sounding”
clearly revealing the spatial distribution characteristics of strata and groundwater within a depth range of 30 meters at the site. The research results can provide technical support for geological surveys of similar desert wind and solar power bases.
