Against the backdrop of the country’s deepening advancement of the‘dual carbon’goals
it is particularly crucial to promote the transformation and upgrading of the construction industry toward low-carbon and sustainable models.Based on the carbon emission theory for the full life cycle of foundation pits
defining the carbon emission calculation boundaries for both the Soil Mixing Wall (SMW) piles and bored piles during the stages of building material production
on-site construction and component removal.By applying relevant calculation standards and literature data
the carbon emissions of these two methods at various foundation pit stages are calculated and subsequently compared. The results showed that the carbon emissions over the full lifecycle of SMW pile foundations are only 72.3% of bored piles. The SMW method offers significant carbon reduction benefits and serves as a key approach to advancing the green transformation of foundation pit engineering and achieving carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals in the building engineering.
