The point load strength test is an effective method to replace the uniaxial compressive strength test for rock strength prediction. There is a relationship between the two
including but not limited to the linear relationship. In this paper
the reliability of the data is analyzed by collecting the data of point load strength and uniaxial compressive strength test in the past
and the empirical relationship between the two is obtained by using the modified point load strength of different rock types and the average value of uniaxial compressive strength of rock. The expression provides a more feasible and reliable basis for the prediction of uniaxial compressive strength of rock in power transmission and transformation projects.
