When the Vienna rectifier is applied as an active front-end in aircraft power supply systems
traditional PI control is adversely affected by the wide frequency variation (360~800 Hz) of AC input
leading to poor grid-side current quality and a reduction in power factor. To address this issue
this paper proposes an optimal vector predictive sliding mode control (OVP-SMC) method for Vienna rectifiers
specifically designed for wide frequency variation operating conditions. A predictive power model is constructed for the inner loop based on instantaneous power theory
the cost function of traditional predictive control is eliminated
and an instantaneous phase-locked loop (PLL) is integrated to generate optimal switching vectors in real-time
achieving minimized power tracking errors across the wide input frequency range. The proportional-integral sliding mode control is adopted for the outer loop featuring a variable-exponential-power reaching law containing voltage error signals
accompanied by its parameter design methodology to dynamically regulate output voltage. Finally
the proposed method is compared with traditional method through simulations and experiments
and the results demonstrate that
across the entire wide input frequency range
the proposed method exhibits superior dynamic and steady-state performance. The grid-side current total harmonic distortion (THD) remains below 3%
and the system power factor is maintained above 0.99.
