Facing the practical demands of insulation materials for improvement of comprehensive performances such as surface insulation and weather resistance
it is of great significance to develop novel surface modification and improvement technologies for insulations. Atmospheric pressure low-temperature plasma technology has shown unique advantages in the field of insulation surface modification because of its high reactivity
controllable modification effect and free pollution. We review the research progress of atmospheric pressure plasma insulation surface modification technology in recent years
and summarize the plasma sources
treatment methods and plasma reaction process on material surface which are suitable for insulation modification. Then
starting from the specific needs of insulation for surface performances improvement
we introduce the application of plasma in surface hydrophilic/hydrophobic modification
surface charge regulation
flashover voltage promotion
insulating surface repair
and nanocomposite insulation synthesis. Finally
future prospects in atmospheric pressure low-temperature plasma insulation modification are proposed based on micro-reaction mechanism
modification optimization
and the long-term service characteristics of modified insulation
aiming to further promote the application of plasma technology in the field of high voltage insulation.
