The icing on power equipment and components such as wires and insulators poses a serious threat to the safe operation of power systems. We developed a room-temperature preparation approach for a CuS-enhanced superhydrophobic photothermal(SHP)CuS-Fe3O4@SiO2 nanocomposite and coating
and explored the photothermal conversion
anti-icing performance
and practical anti-icing application of the CuS-Fe3O4@SiO2 in wires and insulators. First
CuS-Fe3O4 composites were synthesized by introducing Fe3O4 nanoparticles during the preparation of CuS. Methyl groups-modified CuS-Fe3O4@SiO2 composites were then obtained through an in-situ reaction and surface modification. The SHP anti-icing coating was prepared by sequential spraying a resin-based primer and a CuS-Fe3O4@SiO2 topcoat. The freezing time of the water droplet on the optimal photothermal superhydrophobic CuS-Fe3O4@SiO2 coating was 674 s at -30 ℃ under 1.0 sun
which was 428 s longer than that of water droplets on SH SiO2 coatings. Notably
at -15 ℃ and under ≥0.8 sun illumination
no freezing occurred on the CuS-Fe3O4@SiO2 coating even after 3 000 s
confirming an excellent delayed icing performance. Additionally
the CuS-Fe3O4@SiO2 coating exhibits excellent mechanical wear resistance
