The new power system incorporates a large number of renewable energy generation systems
thus higher requirements on the real-time performance
accuracy
and reliability of measurement technologies are put forward. High-voltage metrology
as a critical underpinning for ensuring the safe and stable operation of power systems
is confronted with new development opportunities and challenges. This paper reviews the current state of research in high-voltage metrology and provides an in-depth analysis of the mainstream technical approaches in areas including novel techniques for quantity traceability and dissemination
online metrology in complex electromagnetic environments
and ultra-high-voltage (UHV) testing. Furthermore
specific key techniques are summarized
including precise time synchronization
high-voltage remote calibration
integrated calibration platform of analog and digital quantities
ultra-fast transient overvoltage measurement
low power factor loss measurement
and voltage linearity assessment of ultra-high-voltage measurement systems. The advantages and disadvantages of existing technologies and their application scopes are analyzed
and future development trends in high-voltage metrology technologies are elucidated
including more efficient online calibration methods
expanded applications of optical instruments in the high-voltage domain
intelligent measurement based on new sensors
etc. Finally
recommendations are made for further developments of high-voltage metrology technologies oriented toward the new power system
aiming to provide a reference for the research and applications in the related fields.
