effectively addresses the stability challenges caused by the high proportion of renewable energy integration by autonomously establishing voltage/frequency references
providing virtual inertia and active damping control. The Andronov-Hopf Oscillator (AHO) control
a grid-forming control method based on nonlinear controllers
offers superior dynamic performance compared to traditional droop control
but its transient stability still needs improvement. This paper proposes an improved AHO control method
by which the voltage and frequency dynamic equations of the traditional AHO are modified to transform the parts of the original nonlinear droop characteristics that are detrimental to transient stability into forms that are beneficial to system stability. The feasibility of the improved AHO control is initially determined through the Lyapunov function. Then simulation experiments based on MATLAB/Simulink and experiments show that the improved AHO control grid-type energy storage converter system has smaller frequency fluctuations and steady-state errors under load changes
and better power tracking capabilities. After reconstructing the nonlinear droop coefficients
the proposed improved AHO control significantly enhances the system stability compared to the traditional AHO control
and slightly improves it compared to droop control.
