High-voltage power cables can resolve the contradiction between power transmission and the environment as well as urbanization
and constitute the main energy arterial of the power transmission in China. As a new type "low-carbon" cable insulating material
thermoplastic polypropylene will promote the leapfrog development of power equipment. Grafting modification can effectively enhance the electrical properties of polypropylene
and has been proved a highly promising technical route for the modification of polypropylene-based cable insulating materials
which has received extensive attention and in depth research. The kernel scientific issue of polypropylene-based grafting modification is the regulation mechanism and method on electrical properties. This paper commences from the grafting group type and the structure of chemical functional groups
comprehensively analyzes and arranges the current regulation theories and methods on the electrical properties of grafted polypropylene cable insulating materials from following two major aspects: the regulation effect and the regulation mechanism. The former is expatiated and summarized from fundamental electrical properties
electrical/water tree characteristics
and aging performances. On the latter
we point out that the chemical structure of grafting groups and their influence on the trap mechanism and the condensed state structure of polypropylene are the key factors of electrical properties regulation
and further analyze other regulation mechanisms. This work provides a theoretical basis for the basic research and industrial development of grafted polypropylene cable insulating materials.
