With the rapid development of ultra-high voltage (UHV) AC/DC transmission technology
power grid structures have become increasingly complex
with networking methods evolving toward diversified coexistence
including hybrid DC
flexible DC
and UHV AC. The integrated sending-receiving UHV hybrid AC/DC grid has emerged as a new configuration for provincial power grids. Compared to purely sending- or receiving-end UHV hybrid AC/DC grids
the integrated sending-receiving grid exhibits distinct features: coexistence of stability characteristics at both ends
complex coupling across multiple stability issues
and intensified dynamic interactions between AC and DC systems. These characteristics result in more complex stability behaviors
more variable operational controls
and greater challenges in fault prevention
making power grid security and stability risks increasingly prominent. To address these challenges
this paper first conducts an in-depth analysis of the characteristics and main challenges of integrated sending-receiving UHV hybrid AC/DC grids. Subsequently
it summarizes technical pathways across three dimensions —characteristic cognition
operational control
and fault prevention —using the Sichuan Power Grid
a typical integrated sending-receiving system
as a case study to illustrate relevant engineering practices. Finally
to meet the growing demands for enhanced system stability
the paper proposes key technological directions
including advanced power equipment
panoramic data perception
ultra-high-precision simulation
and intelligent decision support. These insights aim to provide references for supporting the development and research of UHV hybrid AC/DC power grids.
