To promote green and low-carbon energy development
wind and solar power will continue to grow rapidly and increasingly integrate into the energy mix. As China aims to peak carbon emissions and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060
renewable energy is set for significant advancements. However
the inherent variability of renewable energy can cause wind and solar power curtailment due to insufficient system flexibility
which limits its overall utilization. Effective measures are needed to enhance renewable energy consumption
but such improvements require substantial system costs beyond a certain point. The concept of "rational utilization" of renewable energy has been proposed to balance economic benefits and system efficiency. This article examines typical provincial power grids in China
quantitatively assessing how various consumption measures impact the rational utilization of renewable energy. It compares the impact of flexible measures under different conditions and analyzes the rationale behind the "economic power abandonment" rate. The study proposes strategies to effectively balance system costs with rational utilization of renewable energy resources.
