several power blackout events have occurred in power systems with high proportion of renewable energy
notably in South Australia
the UK
Texas (USA)
Brazil
Chile
Spain and Portugal
which provide important warnings and lessons for ensuring China's power system security and power supply reliability. In this paper
these power blackout events are introduced. Secondly
the common causes of the blackout are analyzed from aspects including power grid structure
power source support
system security defense
coordination between the grid and generation sources
and operation management mechanisms. Finally
combined with the recent development in the energy transition and the new power system construction in China
the relevant measures and recommendations are proposed in order to guarantee secure operation of the large interconnected power system and prevent large-scale blackout.
