To address the unclear transfer mechanisms among the multi-field and multi-scale coupled dynamic responses of floating wind turbines under wind-wave coupling conditions
this paper conducts fully coupled aero-hydro- mooring simulations using the STAR-CCM+multi-physics platform. Numerical approaches include the dynamic fluid-body interaction
overset grids
the volume of fluid method
and the improved delayed detached eddy simulation model. The work explores the inherent correlations among motion responses
aerodynamic loads
and wake evolution. Results reveal that the power spectral density of motion responses decays with an f-2 scaling
and unique coupling effects exist among different degrees of freedom. Wave surface variations induce periodic fluctuations in the wind velocity above the sea surface. Inflow wind speed and multi-degree- of-freedom motions jointly govern the dynamic behavior of the turbine. The wake of the floating wind turbine oscillates alternately
with the spacing between adjacent tip vortex rings gradually increasing to approximately 0.5 wavelengths
corresponding to twice the wave frequency. The wake is intermittently enhanced with intensified wake meandering and accelerated recovery. Additionally
the power spectral densities of aerodynamic thrust and torque exhibit piecewise cross-scale decay following power laws from f-8/3 to f-11/3 in the high-frequency domain. The obtained results can serve as a theoretical reference for the layout design and operational control of floating wind farms.
