Simulation research is vital for renewable power systems
particularly full electromagnetic transient simulation. Single-rate simulation is inefficient because of the small time step required for high-frequency devices
leading to the development of multi-rate simulation. The multi-rate interface transformer
a crucial component
decouples large systems into subsystems operating at different rates. However
existing multi-rate interface transformers present challenges such as excessive capacitive reactive power and transient oscillations due to the introduction of virtual capacitors. To address these issues
this paper introduces a novel multi-rate interface transformer model. By incorporating additional inductances on both sides of the transformer to compensate for the excessive capacitive reactive power generated by the virtual capacitors
and adding resistances to quickly dampen the oscillation energy
the model effectively mitigates transient oscillations. Testing conducted on the RTDS platform demonstrates that
compared to traditional multi-rate interface transformers
this model reduces excessive capacitive reactive power by approximately 92.04% and transient oscillation amplitudes by an average of 81.46%.
