To address the oscillatory instability of grid-following(GFL)-based full-power wind turbine systems under ultra-weak grid conditions
this paper visualizes the control loops of the machine-side converter(MSC) and grid-side converter(GSC) as virtual impedances composed of circuit components. From the perspective of circuit theory
the oscillatory instability mechanism of full-power wind turbine systems under ultra-weak grid conditions is revealed. On this basis
considering the limitations of existing active damping control methods
this paper proposes a reactive power hybrid synchronization control(RPHSC) approach to ensure stable operation of full-power wind turbine systems under ultra-weak grid conditions with a short-circuit ratio(SCR) of 1.1. Meanwhile
the reactive power output by full-power wind turbine systems can be reduced. Finally
the effectiveness of the proposed method is validated through Matlab/Simulink simulation results and experimental results obtained from a hardware-in-the-loop platform using the Modeling Tech StarSim.
