Abstract
In the current landscape of new power systems
the development trajectory of the power and energy balance model is predominantly oriented towards a non-fully real-time balance paradigm. This model emphasizes the interaction among power generation sources
loads
and energy storage
with energy storage serving as a pivotal element. Nevertheless
constrained by the extant state of energy storage technology
this mode confronts a multitude of technical and cost-related hurdles. Specifically
in the domain of long-term seasonal energy storage
existing technologies struggle to store electrical energy in a large-scale
efficient
and cost-effective manner to satisfy the demands of power allocation and supply. Against this backdrop
this paper delves into a novel concept for constructing a power and energy balance model grounded in carbon balance. Leveraging carbon
which has the property of spatio-temporal transfer
as an intermediary
the model achieves the comprehensive utilization of curtailed wind and solar power and unlocks the latent output of thermal power through carbon capture and emission mechanisms. This approach facilitates the dual-balance of both "power and energy" and "carbon." The paper puts forward the notions of narrow carbon balance and generalized carbon balance. Based on prospective power planning scenarios and the developmental progression of direct air capture (DAC) technology
the feasibility of the new power system's power and energy balance model based on "carbon balance" is validated through case-based analysis. The research findings of this paper offer a fresh solution-oriented perspective for the conundrum of power and energy balance. As DAC technology continues to mature and the domestic carbon market evolves
the integrated power generation technology that combines new energy and DAC is positioned to become one of the most promising technical pathways in the new power system's journey towards carbon neutrality.
