Hydrogen-enriched natural gas combustion can achieve source carbon emission reduction
and the establishment of accurate and reliable kinetic reaction mechanisms is a prerequisite for the research and development of safe
efficient and clean hydrogen-enriched natural gas combustion technologies and equipment. This paper reviews the research progress of detailed and skeletal kinetic reaction mechanisms for hydrogen-enriched methane combustion in the past 30 years. The predictive ability of 13 representative mechanisms for the ignition delay time
laminar burning velocity
and NO formation characteristics of hydrogen- enriched methane combustion is analyzed. The shortcomings of the existing mechanisms are pointed out
as well as the perspectives for further development and optimization. The GRI-Mech 2.11

and Wang2018 mechanisms perform better in predicting the ignition delay time and laminar burning velocity in combustion of methane blended with hydrogen at low mixing ratios
with an error of less than 15%
but there is a large deviation in the prediction under high pressure and high hydrogen-blending ratio conditions. The Glarborg2018 and Xu2024 mechanisms are more accurate in predicting the NO production characteristics
but they still suffer from shortcomings such as overestimation of NO production under fuel-rich and high pressure conditions. In the future
it is suggested that the rate parameters of the reactions related to C-H interaction

and NNH are optimized to improve the predictive performance of the mechanisms. The high-fidelity reaction mechanism with nitrogen chemistry need to be further developed.
