Abstract
Dual-channel wireless power transfer (WPT) system with rotating magnetic field coupling delivers energy to equipment with a high freedom degree over a wide spatial range. The same-side and cross mutual inductance of the magnetic coupling induces a circulating current in the dual-channel WPT system. This circulating current influences configuration of the resonant circuit as well as the balance between the dual channel. The amplitude-phase relationship between the circulating current and the transmission current also determines the system output power. In this paper
a dual-channel WPT system model considering the same-side coupled mutual inductance is established. The coupling paths of the circulating currents are analysed
and expressions for the energy transfer currents as well as the circulating currents are derived. The components and mechanisms of the circulating current are revealed. Accordingly
a configuration for the resonant circuit considering the effect of the circulating current is proposed. The effect of each component of the circulating current on the transmission power is given. The balance condition of the two channels and the critical condition of the zero output power are derived. The simulation and experimental results have verified the distribution of circulating current and the system transmission characteristic analysis.
