The construction of China's carbon market begins with the power generation industry
and electricity trading and carbon trading are closely interrelated. Meanwhile
the clean and low-carbon goals of the new power system also require deep coupling between electricity and carbon trading to facilitate power-sector decarbonization and green-oriented transition. This paper analyzes the mechanisms of electricity-carbon coupling trading and clarifies its definition
then summarizes the commonalities and characteristics of existing research to provide a reference for future work. Firstly
trading mechanisms of carbon emission rights and tradable green certificates are introduced
and the current status of electricity-carbon coupling trading is provided. Secondly
the multi-level coupling mechanism of electricity-carbon trading is analyzed
the basic concept of electricity-carbon coupling trading is defined
and typical trading patterns are discussed. Thirdly
the common parts in existing research are summarized
and a general model of electricity-carbon coupling trading is built from the aspects of market entity behavior and transaction patterns. Finally
typical research topics of electricity-carbon coupling trading are reviewed
including individual optimization
market equilibrium analysis
and mechanism design
and prospects for the future development of electricity-carbon coupling trading in new power systems are given.
