economy and reliability play an important role in adjusting grids peak and valley load.Static frequency converter（SFC） is generally used as a boot device on pumped storage units

with the advantages of a launch speed and capacity

high operational reliability and small maintenance workload.This paper analyzes the cause of frequent starting failure of static frequency converter during the early operation and proposes corresponding solutions.
