The dynamic and static stress values of the high-head arc-shaped working gate were tested under conditions close to the design head. The test results showed that the dynamic and static stresses were both less than the allowable stress. Comparative analysis found that the finite element analysis cal ⁃ culation results were basically consistent with the test results and most of the numerical values were in good agreement. However
there were differences between the test values and the calculated values at some positions. This was because the actual operating boundary conditions of the arc-shaped gate were more complicated than the theoretical boundary conditions due to the manufacturing errors and installa ⁃ tion errors. At the same time
the finite element calculation model was a simplification of the actual situa ⁃ tion of the gate. Therefore
the stress distribution in the arc-shaped gate obtained under test conditions was more reliable than the theoretical calculation values.
