The main mechanism of rockfill rheology can be attributed to the rockfill deterioration due to variation of water level
rainfall infiltration
weathering and other environmental factors. At the same time
the particles have high contact stress-broken and rearrange-stress release
adjustment and transfer
this process incessancy owning to the continuous particle degradation. In the framework of deformable discrete element method
the stochastic granular discontinuous deformation method(SGDD) considering particle breakage is employed with the introduction of the strength degradation model to reflect the particle degradation. The method is employed to rockfill triaxial creep numerical experiments; the simulation results are consistent with indoor test ones. It is shown that the SGDD method considering rockfill creep caught the main mechanism
is suitable for simulation of rockfill creep deformation. Numerical experimental results show that with the external environment the degradation degree
degradation rate
parent rocks intensity has great influence on the macroscopic rheological deformation.
