By using the soil static and dynamic universal triaxial and torsional shear apparatus
the tamping method was taken to prepare the saturated remolding silt samples with initial sampling water contents of 0
5% and 10%. The initial anisotropic consolidation was done under the condition of the initial orientation angles of the principal stress at 0o
30o
45o respectively. The stress-controlled undrained monotonic shear tests were performed while the mean principal stress of 100 kPa
the intermediate principal stress coefficient of 0.5
the orientation of principal stress and loading rate were all fixed. The effects of the orientation of principal stress and initial sampling water content on the stress-strain relations
the pore pressure development as well as the effective stress paths of saturated remolding silt were respectively studied. The test results show that the principal stress orientation and initial sampling water content have considerable influence on deformation and strength behavior of saturated remolding silt. The stress and stain relationships are influenced by the initial sampling water content; its influence on the shear strength is not significant. The failure standards selected affect significantly on the test results. The water pressure of dry prepared sample is lower than the wet one. The normalized shear strength reduces gradually and normalized maximum pore water pressure increase gradually with the increase of the principal stress direction for all initial sampling water content.
