the p-y curve method was widely used. There were many different p-y curve models with different curve forms and parameters. The pile and soil parameters in p-y curves were analyzed; reasonable standard parameters were selected to normalize p-y curves; the hyperbolic model was chosen to fit normalized curves. By summarizing the current researches on ground reaction modulus and the ultimate resistance of the soil
considering the pile diameter
construction and other factors
appropriate parameters of hyperbolic model were selected. Through the comparative analysis of examples
the validity and applicability of the hyperbolic model are proved. The form of hyperbolic model is simple and in line with the ideal soil stress - strain relationship
and the model could approximate fitted the existing measured p-y curves in sand. Therefore
hyperbolic model could be used in the nonlinear analysis of laterally loaded piles in sand in practice.
