The characteristics of electric resistivity of compacted loess are studied. For this purpose
through experiments the relationships among water content
pore fluid chemical concentration
degree of saturation
temperature and electric resistivity of compacted loess samples are studied. Electric resistivity is measured with the ESEU-1 resistivity equipment and a two electrode cell applying 50Hz alternation current (AC). The test results show that the electric resistivity of loess decreases with the increase of water content and saturation degree; and it resistivity decreases with the increase of concentration of conducted chemical component in soil pore water. Soil electric resistivity decreases with the increase of temperature of surroundings. For the tested loess
the experiment parameter of the temperature effect on soil resistivity equals to 0.026℃–1. Experimental results show that the good correlation exists in soil’s electric resistivity and its physico-mechanical properties
so as to evaluate the engineering properties of compacted soils effectively.
