According to results of the triaxial compressive test of saturated saline frozen silty clay
the stress-strain relationships are studied in the process from the beginning of test to the soil samples destroyed. And maximum values of initial elastic modulus and principal deviator stress are calculated by using Duncan-Chang hyperbolic model. The results show that the values of initial elastic modulus and principal deviator stress increase with salinity reducing and temperature falling. In order to analyze the action mechanism of salt content affecting on soil strength
a new concept
the relative temperature
is put forward
and the linear relationship of the relative temperature and the compressive strength are described. The relative temperature is an integrative conception to take into account how some elements
i. e. salinity
test temperature
etc
affect frozen soil characteristics
so as to express the relationship of saline soil and non-saline soil by the relative temperature. And the mechanical characteristics of saline soil is studied by it of non-saline soil.
