When analyzing the deformation problem of rebars embedded in reinforced concrete and anchors embedded in the rockmass of chambers
the coupling deformation between a line element and a solid element has to be dealt with. The general approach is to simplify the anchors and rebars into embedded truss or beam elements
and the rigidity matrix of the embedded elements will be incorporated into one of the solid elements. The two methods cannot reflect the deformation nonuniformity of reinforcing parts under complex stress conditions. On the basis of other scholars’ researches
the reinforced solid element method is proposed to solve such problems
and its relevant analytical model is put forth. In this model
based on foundamental theories of continuum mechanics
a new nonlinear element equilibrium equation is deduced by using minimum potential energy principle
in which the axial deformation energy
torsional energy
bending deformation energy of the reinforcing parts are taken into account. Finally
a computational program based on the model is compiled; and its results are compared with the results from the commercial software Abaqus.
