The test of quantification of rock mesostructure is designed based on damage mechanics and stereology theory. Some relating issues such as specimen preparation

experiment equipment and experiment routines are settled down. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) is used to investigate Jinping marbles in Sichuan Province and thousands of mesostructural images are obtained. Then

SEM images are transferred into binary images by using digital image processing and compiled program; and the microcracks’ information such as length

angle

width

area

perimeter

etc. is obtained from the processed images by using functions. Finally

the information of rock mesostructure is statistically analyzed; and the statistical law of every parameter is obtained; it’s import to the research of macro-damage of rock.
