The explosive energy of charge in rock is composed of shock wave energy and gaseous explosive energy. Analysis of the distribution of explosive energy can help to improve the blasting effect and blasting performance. During coupling column blasting
the features of deformation and destruction of rock by shock wave
the explosion of cavity by detonation gas
and moving of cracks by the detonation gas with considering advance damage are analyzed. The result calculated for several rocks shows that the shock wave energy consumed makes up about 40% of the total energy of the charge. The energy consumption in the course of the cavity and main cracks expansion accounts for about 23% of the total blasting energy. The spare energy among which most is consumed to increase the amount of cracks is lost.
