Surrounding rock classification and rock mass quality classification are basic methods to estimate rock mass quality and stability synthetically. It is cockamamie to determine the index of rock mass basic quality (BQ) according to National Standard for Engineering Classification for Rock Mass: GB 50218-94 in China. The graph of BQ and quality classification has been executed from the BQ formulas and the clauses in Nation Standard. The BQ values and quality classification can be gotten expediently based on rock’s uniaxial saturated compression strength and intactness index of rock mass in the graph. In order to obtain conveniently physico-mechanical parameters of rock mass

the relation chart between the BQ and these parameters has been made. The practicality of the graph and chart is proved by applying them to an underground engineering.
