Pre-consolidation pressure is one important index of soils. The shortcomings of existing mathematic models are discussed based on the practical shape of e-logp curve

and the thought of using famous Harris model to fit e-logp curve is put forward. By comparisons and analyses

this new model’s superiorities to the traditional cubic and quartic polynomial models are revealed. Besides

one calculating program is written by using the 0.618 method and the least-square fitting method. The inputted data is very simple and the results are of high accuracy according to the calculation results of an engineering example. It shows that this new model has definite reference value for engineers.
