Confirming initial earth of rocks is necessary to design and construct geotechanical engineering such as underground cave and slope.An approach analyzing initial earth stress is presented.That is means of combining displacement function method and FEM to simulate initial stress field.The result of ecample indicates that this method can simulate the initial stress field;and offer an equivalent method how to apply load on model for FEM analysis later.Therefore

this method has good practicability.
