Based on the calculation model established by the Aspen Plus software
the influence of the operating parameters and system layout on the performance of the organic Rankine cycle was analyzed. And the economic efficiency of the system was evaluated by using the ratio of the net output power to the total heat transfer area required by the system as a judgment indicates. Results show that three parameters including evaporation temperature
evaporation pressure and organic working fluid flow have a certain effect on the net output power of the organic Ranking cycle. Among which the influence of the organic working fluid flow is the most important indicator followed by the evaporation temperature. In view of the combined consideration of economy and net output power
when the diesel engine is running at full load
the system has the best performance under the conditions of evaporation temperature of 160 ℃
evaporation pressure of 2.5 MPa and organic working fluid flow rate of 18 kg/s. The organic working fluid flow is the most influential and is easy to operate. Under different diesel engine operating conditions changing the organic working fluid flow can make the engine adapt to load changes. The greater the load
the more energy is recovered
resulting in an net output power of up to 8% of the diesel engine power. The installation of an internal regenerator in the system improves the thermal efficiency by 2.65% and then
adding a low temperature cycle an make the net power output increase by 94.90 kW.
